Bec Judd’s kids are back to home-schooling as Melbourne is plunged into lockdown again

Rebecca Judd and her AFL player husband Chris were thrilled when their children returned to school after Melbourne eased it’s months long lockdown in October.

But the kids are now being home schooled again after Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced a statewide five-day hard stage four lockdown on Friday, amid fears the hyper-infectious UK strain of coronavirus is spreading ‘at light speed’ around the state after leaking from a quarantine hotel at Melbourne Airport.

The famous couple are back to homeschooling their four children – son Oscar, eight, five-year-old daughter Billie, and three-year-old twin boys, Tom and Darcy.

Posting to her Instagram Stories, the 38-year-old footy WAG shared a boomerang video of Billie seated on a table in the family’s lounge room, hitting the books and accessing online learning with an iPad.

In the footage, the little girl is seen giving her mum a thumbs up motion.

‘We got this Vic,’ Bec captioned the inspirational post.

When the children returned to school after the first lockdown in October, Bec claimed her youngsters were initially scared to leave the comfort of home-schooling for the real thing.

On a episode of radio show 3pm Pick-Up, Rebecca – who was a host at the time – revealed that her eldest son, Oscar, was particularly concerned about socialising with people outside his family.

She told her co-host Katie ‘Monty’ Dimond that her children were a little apprehensive about being around other kids again.

‘My Oscar said, “I feel excited, but a bit nervous to talk to people,”‘ she explained.

Rebecca added: ‘They hadn’t socialised with anyone but our family unit for so long.’

Rebecca and her husband, retired Carlton captain Chris Judd, breathed a sigh of relief in September when their children, son Oscar, nine, daughter Billie, six, and twin boys Tom and Darcy, four, finally went back to school.

Celebrating the occasion on Instagram, she uploaded a black-and-white photo of her kids beaming together in their school uniforms.

‘It feels like the first day of school,’ she wrote in the caption.

So proud:  When her children returned to school in September last year after a strict stage-four lockdown, Bec took to Instagram to celebrate the momentous occasion. 'So proud of all the Melbourne teachers, parents/carers but most of all students. The resilience they've shown for the endless months of learning from home has been unbelievable,' Bec said

The multi-tasking mother made no secret of her struggles during lockdown, posting to Instagram in July: ‘Home school finishes at three and I will have a glass of rosé in my hand at 3:01pm!’

Throughout the original lockdown, Bec shared several photos to Instagram of her eldest children, Oscar and Billie, being home-schooled via Zoom.

One image showed Oscar at his makeshift desk in his bedroom, and Rebecca joked that the boy’s teachers should ‘use their mute button frequently’.

‘Term three coming at ya,’ she wrote. ‘What a year. 2020 can f**k right off.’

On Friday, Dan Andrews plunged all of Victorian into lockdown again amid fears the hyper-infectious UK strain of coronavirus is spreading ‘at light speed’ around the state after leaking from a quarantine hotel at Melbourne Airport.

Stage Four restrictions endured by Victorians during winter have been re-imposed with residents confined to their homes except for two hours of exercise, essential shopping, care-giving and work.
