Terri Irwin is expected to release never-before-seen home videos dating back more than a decade as she ‘plans a Netflix documentary series’

Thanks to Australia Zoo and the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, the Irwins have been household names for decades.

And now it’s believed a big-budget documentary series with never-before-seen home videos could be in the works.

According to New Idea, Terri Irwin is sitting on ‘a treasure trove of VHS tapes’ and is in talks to create a special tribute on screen to mark her family’s legacy.

‘Terri’s one step ahead of the game, as usual, and is pulling it all together for a really lush documentary. TV networks would write blank cheques for some of the stuff she has!’ a source told the publication.

‘She’s been documenting almost every moment of Bindi and Robert’s lives. She’ll likely have the birthing suite, too, when Bindi has her baby!’ they claimed.

The source went on to say that Terri often looks back on the family footage, as it is some of the last memories she has immortalized with late husband Steve.

‘She loves how some big stars have had their own stories produced for Netflix and would like to give her story the same treatment – she knows it’s what fans would enjoy,’ they added.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Australia Zoo for comment.

On September 4, 2006, Steve died in a heartbreaking accident while he was snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef.

In 2006, there was a TV movie about Steve’s death, titled ‘Steve Irwin: He Changed Our World’, and later another TV movie in 2018, titled ‘The Steve Irwin Story’.

The family have remained in the spotlight, and regularly appear on free-to-air channels’ breakfast programs to discuss the zoo and animal conservation.

Robert Irwin also took over from his famous father by appearing on popular American talk shows as young as 13.

Last year Australia Zoo celebrated its 50th anniversary, with Bindi also releasing a book honouring her late conservationist father, Steve.

She shared the exciting news with her Instagram followers, stating the publication, titled ‘Creating a Conservation Legacy’, took ‘almost five years’ to complete.

The soon-to-be mother, who is expecting her first child with husband Chandler Powell in March 2021, said the book was a compilation of old pictures and journal entries.

‘Looking through countless archives, Dad’s old journals, Australia Zoo booklets and photographs tucked away in office corners. It’s finally here,’ Bindi captioned a series of pictures of her family with the book uploaded to Instagram.
