They’ve long delighted viewers with their presenting partnership.

And now Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly, 51, and Claudia Winkleman, 49, could appear on the dance floor together for the first time in the show’s history.

Rylan Clark-Neal, 32, who hosts Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, told The Mirror he is urging BBC bosses to consider giving the fan favourite hosts their own routine.

Better together: Strictly Come Dancing co-hosts Tess Daly, 51, and Claudia Winkleman, 49, could perform together next series, according to It Takes Two presenter Rylan Clark-Neal

Speaking to support BT’s +1 loneliness campaign, he was asked if he would ever consider competing on the BBC One juggernaut.

He replied: ‘Everyone always asks. But the only thing I’d do now would be a special if it was me, Claud, Tess and Zoe – just the four of us.

‘Because we’re all working on the show, it wouldn’t seem like there were any favourable comments.

‘If there was a Christmas special like that and we all signed up, why not?’

Rylan’s comments came amid swirling rumours that football star Rio Ferdinand had been approached by Strictly bosses to appear on the upcoming series.

The retired Manchester United and England international, 42, reportedly gets asked ‘every year’ to appear on Strictly.

Rio even studied ballet as a child and won a scholarship to attend London’s Central School of Ballet.

Speaking about his experience with ballet in a 2017 interview with FourFourTwo, Rio, who is married to Kate Ferdinand, said: ‘At first I didn’t tell my mates because they would have ripped me all day long. I just told them I was doing drama.

‘I did it for two years, then in my third year I told my mates. I was one of the lads anyway and they were fine to be fair to them.

‘It was a big commitment though because it used to take me two hours to get there and I had to go three times a week.

‘Then I got to a point where my dad said, ‘Do you want to be a footballer or a ballet dancer? You have to make a decision because it’s taking up too much of your time.’

‘Luckily I chose football! But the ballet had a good effect on my career because of the flexibility, strength and balance you learn. ‘
