Josh Lawson jokes his leading man dreams are over because Chris Hemsworth set ‘the bar so high’

Australian actor Josh Lawson says he’s abandoned dreams of becoming a Hollywood leading man because he ‘can’t compete’ with ‘genetic freaks’ like Chris Hemsworth

Josh Lawson has come a long way from starring on Thank God You’re Here, having scored roles on US shows like House of Lies and Superstore in recent years.

But the Australian actor, 39, has admitted his dreams of becoming a Hollywood leading man will likely never come to fruition, with the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson setting ‘the bar so high’.

Josh, who stars in the upcoming Mortal Kombat film, told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday: ‘Now, leading men are The Rock and Jason Statham and Chris Hemsworth, who is like a genetic freak in a way. He is so good looking it is just crazy.

‘There are these people who are so attractive that the bar is so high now I don’t even want to play the game. I will leave that to the beautiful people.’

Josh said that the older gets, the more he avoids yearns for roles that require good looks, as this no longer makes him happy.

Instead, Josh said he’ll happily stick to telling jokes and stories – much like in his new film, Long Story Short.
