Genius: Aretha trailer follows Cynthia Erivo as the Queen of Soul as she makes her mark

The Queen of Soul’s iconic story is coming to the small screen with the new trailer for Genius: Aretha on National Geographic Channel.

Aretha Franklin’s inimitable career will be put on display in the third season of Genius, which has previously explored the lives of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso.

Cynthia Erivo stars as Franklin in the eight-episode series, which will be rolled out over four consecutive nights starting Sunday, March 21 on National Geographic Channel.

The trailer begins with Franklin sitting down at the piano, as she’s heard in voice-over saying, ‘I’m writing a new song. It’s gonna hit you hard.’

‘It’ll get under your skin, right down to the bone,’ she continues, adding, ‘It’s gonna be a whole new vibe that brings people together.’
