Matilda De Angelis enjoys a snack as amid filming for Across The River And Into The Trees

Matilda De Angelis was spotted enjoying a tasty looking snack as she took a break from filming scenes for Across The River And Into The Trees on Saturday.

The Undoing actress, 25, later joined co-star Liev Schreiber in a boat as they paused between scenes of the World War Two film in Venice, Italy.  

In the film, Matilda plays an 18-year-old Italian contessa called Renata, who is the love interest of Liev’s character Colonel Cantwell. 

And filming for the drama certainly proved to be hungry work for Matilda as she happily munched on what appeared to be cake as she took some downtime on set.

The film star was still dressed in character, with her brunette  tresses styled into bouncy curls, with a blue silk headscarf added to her hair. 

While the stunner also sported flawless make-up to add to the screen siren look. 

Protecting herself from the cool February weather, Matilda wore a hooded navy coat over a grey jacket.

The beauty later joined Liev and members of the crew on a boat ahead of further filming.

And Matilda certainly looked in her element as she cheerfully chatted to others and reclined in the boat.

Matilda sported lightly coloured trousers as she sat in the boat with a plethora of production team, with the actress drawing up her knee for comfort.

She also protected her glamorous hairstyle by pulling her hood over her head. 

Later Liev, sporting a military uniform consisting of a khaki coat over a dark suit, was seen striding across a different set.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine star seemed to be going well despite reportedly injuring himself in a fight scene, with the actor seen using crutches in recent days.  

Set in post WW2 Venice, US Army Col. Cantwell, haunted by the war, is a hero who faces news of his illness with stoic disregard.

Determined to spend a weekend in quiet solitude, he commandeers a military driver to facilitate a visit to some of his old haunts in Venice.

As Cantwell’s plans begin to unravel, a chance encounter with a remarkable young woman begins to rekindle in him the hope of renewal.

Based on the last full-length novel by Ernest Hemingway, the movie captures a fleeting moment of immortality where time stands still.

Four years ago The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Pierce Brosnan would play the lead role with his GoldenEye director Martin Campbell at the helm.

However the current director is Spanish filmmaker Paula Ortiz and this September it emerged in Deadline that Liev is playing the colonel.
