‘I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel,’ Yachty said in a statement, before revealing his love for the card game.

‘I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me,’ he added.

No other specific plot details were revealed, or how the card game ties into the heist or the Atlanta hip-hop underground.

The Uno card game was created by barber Merle Robbins in 1971, which he first sold out of his Cincinatti barbershop.

He later sold the rights to the game to a group of friends including Robert Tezak, a funeral parlor owner who formed International Games to market Uno behind his funeral parlor.

The International Games company became part of the Mattel brand in 1992.

The goal of the game is to reach 500 points and playing all of the cards in one’s hand, while scoring points for cards held by other players.

Lil Yachty will produce the film alongside Mattel Films and Quality Control’s Kevin ‘Coach K’ Lee, Pierre ‘P’ Thomas and Brian Sher.

Robbie Brenner will serve as executive producer with Kevin McKeon as supervising producer, both serving as the leads on the project for Mattel Films.

‘At Mattel Films, we are looking to explore stories that bring our brands to life in unexpected ways,’ Brenner said in a statement.

‘Uno is a game that transcends generations and cultures and we look forward to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as with Coach, P, and Brian Sher, to transform the classic Uno game into a comedic action adventure,’ Brenner added.

Mattel Films is developing a Barbie film with Margot Robbie starring and producing, along with films based on their American Girl, Hot Wheels and Magic 8 Ball brands.
