Taylor Swift gets sued by Evermore theme park in Utah for ‘stealing’ their name for her 2020 album

While Taylor Swift‘s latest album Evermore was another chart-topping success, the singer is facing a bizarre lawsuit from a Utah theme park.

The Evermore Park in Pleasant Grove, Utah filed a lawsuit against the 31-year-old singer for trademark infringement, according to TMZ

The park claims they own the trademark to the word ‘evermore,’ adding that the singer ‘trampled’ on those rights when she started promoting the album and selling Evermore merchandise, which has diluted their brand.

The lawsuit claims the park has spent millions of dollars putting the theme park together, which was conceived in 2014 and constructed in 2018.

The park adds that they trademarked ‘evermore’ for several different purposes, including use on merchandise.

They claim their brand has now been weakened since Swift released her Evermore album in December 2020.

The park alleges that, since the album’s release, their Google search results have dropped dramatically which has affected the park’s bottom line.

The lawsuit also claims Swift was aware that the Evermore trademark was taken and still decided to go ahead and name her album that anyway, with the suit alleging they would ‘drown out the park.’

Swift’s camp would only respond by calling the lawsuit ‘frivolous’ while also claiming that the Evermore park CEO still owes millions of dollars in park construction fees.
