Mother, 21, admits killing her eight-month-old baby girl who died after she was suffocated at house in Blackpool

A 21-year-old today admitted killing her eight-month-old baby who was suffocated to death.

Police were called by the Ambulance Service to an address in Blackpool, at around 7.30am on November 7, 2018.

Emergency services took the unresponsive baby to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where she died a short time later.

A Home Office post-mortem gave a cause of death as suffocation.

Jones had been arrested and initially charged with murder in July last year.

However, following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, a guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted.

Jones was bailed and will be sentenced in June.
