Amanda Holden braves the elements in a green floral summer dress as she tells how the BGT axe has left ‘hundreds and hundreds’ unemployed

Amanda Holden braved the elements in a floral summer dress as she stepped out after her Heart FM breakfast show on Wednesday.

The TV and radio host, 49, wore a black coat draped around her shoulders and bared her legs under the green midi dress in black pointed high-heels as she emerged from the central London studios.

Earlier in the day, the Britain’s Got Talent judge appeared on Good Morning Britain where she spoke about the decision to cancel this year’s talent show which leaves ‘hundreds and hundreds’ unemployed.

Amanda, who has been a judge on the show since 2007, spoke with GMB host Piers Morgan, who was one of Britain’s Got Talent’s original judges.

The TV presenter said that she believed it was the ‘right decision’ to cancel this year’s show although it was ‘difficult’ as it left so many people without jobs.

Amanda said: ‘It was a difficult one this year, for Amelia and all of the producers, because we have so many people that are now unemployed.

‘Behind the scenes, there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of them.

‘So I think we were all trying to find a way around it, but for it to be done safely and with the fifth judge, which is everyone that watches, it’s a show that is impossible to do without an audience.

‘So I am really glad that was the decision that was made, it was the best option.’

It was announced last week that Britain’s Got Talent 2021 has been cancelled as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic prevents a live studio audience from being present.

The hit ITV talent show had already been postponed due to safety concerns and the restrictions brought about by tier systems and lockdowns.

But after several weeks of speculation, it was finally confirmed that the show will not return to screens until 2022.

Bosses of the show said that despite the efforts of the teams at ITV, Thames and head judge Simon Cowell’s Syco, they were forced to call plans off.

They said: ‘With our absolute priority of safeguarding the well-being and health of every person involved in the programme from judges, hosts and contestants to all of the crew and audience, the decision has been made to – unfortunately – move the record and broadcast of the 15th series of Britain’s Got Talent to 2022.

‘BGT is known for its diversity of talent with big dance groups, wonderful choirs and lavish orchestras at its heart, and it has become clear that not only is it not possible to film auditions with these types of acts in a secure way but also that they are not able to adequately rehearse and prepare safely.

‘Safety has to come first and, as a result, the recording of the show can’t currently go ahead as planned.’
