Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross jokes that being named a Fashion Icon ‘was validation for my shopping habit’

She was honored with the E! People’s Choice Awards Fashion Icon Award in November.

And during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tracee Ellis Ross joked about being given the award.

‘I finally felt it was validation for my shopping habit,’ she laughed.

Ross, 48, is well known for her eclectic fashion choices.

But, the Black-ish star told Ellen, ‘if people saw me in my pajamas they would definitely strip me of my title.’

She then detailed her nighttime routine which left the chat show host dumbfounded. 

‘I tuck my t-shirt into my underwear into my pajama pants… I don’t want a draft, Ellen. I want to keep everything in order and in place,’ she said.

Back in November, she had told E! that she considers fashion ‘a form of creative expression’.

She also shared that she has been influenced by her famous mother – Diana Ross – who is widely considered to be a style icon.

Tracee first established herself in Hollywood as the star of the UPN/CW comedy series Girlfriends which ran from 2000 to 2008.

In 2014, she was cast opposite Anthony Anderson in Black-ish which is now in its seventh season.
