Kate & Allie follows the title characters, two divorced best friends who share a household together, raising both their kids.

The dynamic duo prove that they don’t need romance to be successful parents through their unique arrangement.

The original series, created by Sherry Corbin, starred Susan Saint James as Kate McArdle and Jane Curtin as Allie Lowell.

The series also starred Ari Meyers as Kate’s daughter Emma and Frederick Koehler and Allison Smith as Allie’s kids, Kate and Jennie.

The show ran for six seasons spanning 122 episodes between 1984 and 1989, with the show’s final season affected by the 1988 Writer’s Guild of America strike.

With NBC issuing a put pilot order, it seems likely that the show will be picked up to series so the network avoids paying a costly penalty.
