Jessica Simpson shows support for Subway after accusations their tuna sandwiches don’t contain tuna

Jessica Simpson is responsible for one of pop culture’s most defining moments.

And the Sweetest Sin artist still finds herself face with the age-old question: ‘Is it chicken or is it fish?’

She showed her support for Subway as she took to Twitter Friday, after the company recently faced accusations that their tuna sandwiches don’t actually contain tuna, which they’ve denied.

The 40-year-old had a hilariously perfect response to the news coverage, writing: ‘It’s OK @SUBWAY. It IS confusing.’

She was referencing the now infamous moment from the August, 2003 premiere episode of her MTV reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which documented married life with Nick Lachey, 47.

Simpson asked her now ex-husband while they ate some Chicken of the Sea tuna: ‘Is this chicken, what I have, or is it fish? I know it’s tuna, but it says “Chicken by the Sea.”‘

The hilariously endearing moment has lived on in TV infamy for years, even resulting in the Dukes of Hazzard actress becoming a spokesperson for the brand.

‘I was, you know, 22 years old when we got married but I thought I knew my future and I thought he was gonna be in it forever. I thought my dad was completely wrong. I was like, “No, I got this figured out. Watch.” You know? Like, I’ll prove you wrong.’

The Irresistible artist added of what led to their split: ‘He’s eight years older than me so he was already so grown up when I wasn’t, so once I started to, you know, get covers and get endorsement deals that were separate from him — ’cause we did everything together — there was a little bit of tension.

‘And, like, a lot less support. And I just felt in our marriage that we really were kind of spinning and trying to tolerate each other towards the end because we were so used to being miced up or onstage or you know, the world took us in so many ways, and they put us as a trophy couple that we actually weren’t. I mean, we were at the beginning but it fell out pretty quick.’
