Although Zack directed a great deal of the 2017 movie Justice League he left the project after the tragic suicide of his daughter Autumn.

Zack retreated from work in order to focus on family matters leaving The Avengers director Joss Whedon to step in and finish the film.

The movie that eventually got made was a huge flop at the box office with Forbes predicting a loss north of $50 million for Warner Bros.

Many critics were also scathing about the theatrical cut of the movie with the result that it has a dismal 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Whedon had added more jokes and lightened up the tone of the film in keeping with his previous work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Owen Gleiberman of Variety called the finished product ‘the essence of generic competence’ and noted: ‘There’s hardly a trope in it you haven’t seen before.’
