Katie Price praises the ‘incredible’ news her son Harvey is going to be a train announcer

Katie Price has praised the ‘incredible’ news that her son Harvey is going to be a train announcer after being offered the chance by Network Rail.

The former glamour model, 42, shared the announcement with fans on Instagram Stories after her moving documentary that aired on BBC One showcased his love of trains.

The special saw Harvey, who is on the autism spectrum, born with disabilities including partial blindness, ADHD and Prader-Willi syndrome – visit a train station as a treat for his birthday, leading fans to start a campaign for Network Rail to let him be an announcer.

Katie shared a post which had been uploaded by the learning disability charity Mencap explaining that Harvey had been offered the chance to be a train announcer alongside a clip from the documentary.

It said: ‘Incredible news! Harvey is going to be a train announcer for @NetworkRail.’

On Tuesday it was revealed that Harvey had been offered the chance to make an announcement at one of the UK’s train stations. 

Network Rail has offered him the opportunity, having seen Katie Price: Harvey And Me this week.

In the show, Katie took Harvey to visit a train station and take photos on his birthday – something he loves to do.

‘May I have your attention please? This train is formed of 12 coaches. Platform four for the 11:34 South Western Railway service to Guildford,’ Harvey was filmed saying as he mimicked the train announcements.

Network Rail’s Media Relations Manager, Tracey O’Brien, told Metro on Tuesday: ‘Network Rail would be happy to arrange for Harvey to make an announcement at one of the Network Rail managed stations when it is safe to do so.’

Viewers watching the show on Monday evening took to Twitter, campaigning for Harvey to become a train announcer.

‘This is my official petition for Harvey Price to become the announcer on the train line,’ someone wrote.

Another posted: ‘Petition for Harvey Price to record all of the TFL train announcements.’

Katie was left disappointed by her Harvey’s estranged father Dwight Yorke after he failed to get in contact with them following the airing of the documentary.

The doting mum was hoping the footballer would be in touch, with sources close to Katie revealing on Tuesday that she is ‘angry and disappointed’ by the radio silence from Dwight.

Insiders told The Sun though that ‘Katie hasn’t heard from Dwight, and she’s fuming about it – but as always, has left the door open for him to get in contact in the future’.

The friend added: ‘She doesn’t expect much from Dwight given that he’s ignored Harvey for a long time, but part of her thought he might see the show and get in contact.’  

Before Monday’s documentarfy aired Katie expressed that she was hopeful that Dwight would watch and reach out to them.

She split from footballer Dwight, 49, and raised Harvey without him, before eventually marrying now-ex Peter Andre and having more children.

She told The Sun: ‘[Harvey’s] dad has never stuck up for him. It’s a weird one – I don’t know why and I don’t understand why he doesn’t want to be in touch.

‘I would love Dwight to watch the documentary and reach out to Harvey. I’ve always said the door is open for Dwight when he wants to get in touch. At the end of the day Harvey has done nothing wrong, he’s innocent.’

Dwight has since had another son, Brandon Tiger, 14, whom he shares with Naomi Smith.

Katie said: ‘[Harvey] deserves to know his dad and meet his half-brother. Why should Harvey be deprived of that and why should Harvey’s brother not get the chance to meet Harvey? I wonder if he even knows Harvey is his brother?’

Katie and Dwight were dating for 18 months in the early 2000s, with Katie welcoming Harvey in May 2002.  

The doting mum previously slammed her ex for not getting in touch while their son was fighting for his life in the intensive care unit last summer. 

The former glamour model revealed that Harvey ‘could have died’ however his father still failed to reach out to her.

Despite Dwight’s reluctantance to see Harvey, Katie said her ex-husband and Harvey’s former step father Peter Andre wanted to visit him in hospital. 

Dwight initially denied he was Harvey’s father and demanded a paternity test.

After the paternity test in 2002, the footballer publicly acknowledged Harvey as his son – but in an interview seven years later, he admitted he hadn’t kept in contact for ‘a combination of different things’.

He told Sky News’ Kay Burley: ‘One, my time schedule and being based up in Manchester and a footballer on an everyday basis.

‘I’m not sitting here and saying I’m a total perfect father. I’ve made mistakes along the way and I would love to turn the clock back.’

Katie’s documentary left viewers in tears on Monday as they got a glimpse into the model’s life with her disabled son, while others praised Katie, 42, for being such a great mum.
