While promoting the new Go Ahead ‘Snaccident’ campaign, she recalled her first official date with her policeman beau, Scott. She said: ‘It was probably the worst date I’ve ever had!

‘We went out for food and he just chatted about himself, and I thought, “oh god, I’ve got another one of them where it’s just all about them”.

‘I know a lot of girls would say, “well, I’m just not going to see him again,” but I thought I wanted to confront him and find out why he only spoke about himself a lot.

‘I asked him to Starbucks the next day and I said to him, “Scott you never asked me any questions.”‘

The TV sensation, who shot to stardom on Gogglebox in 2014, confirmed her boyfriend was hesitant to ask personal questions as he didn’t want her to think he had the wrong intentions or was only interested in her career.

She continued: ‘He said, “if I’m honest, I feel like because you are who you are, I didn’t want it to look like I was prying for information and I didn’t want to ask you too much because of that.”

‘I was like, “oh that makes sense,” and from then on, we’ve been great. He’s just the nicest human. I’ve never met someone like him who hasn’t got a bad bone in his body, he’s the sweetest.

‘And now it’s funny because he describes it as his best first date and I always say it was my worst. Definitely something to tell the future kids one day.’

The couple’s romance began when she made an emergency 999 call after seeing a stranger outside her home in 2019.

The ‘fit’ constable arrived at her door which sparked conversation, but according to Scarlett, they had known each other for several years.

The Queen of the I’m A Celeb Jungle revealed they had been speaking on-and-off since she was 18-years-old, but the timing was never right due to work commitments or previous relationships.

Scarlett said: ‘We would message on Facebook but then it would die off because we were both busy.

‘But I think we were always meant to be together, which I know sounds really soppy and it makes me cringe to say,’ she laughed. ‘But I do honestly think we were always meant to be together.’

Scarlett said their relationship has become stronger during lockdown. In contrast, she admitted she struggled with dating in the past after feeling like her ex-boyfriends weren’t interested for the right reasons.

She continued: ‘Because he’s [Scott] got such a normal job, he has such a normal life, he doesn’t ask, “hows filming?” He will instead ask, “how’s work?”

‘But I like that because he’s got his own thing going on. I think in the past I’ve tried to go with people who’ve wanted to get into the same industry as me so I thought they would understand me, but I think I got a bit used in the past.

‘My exes, they would say, “oh I would quite like to get into TV,” I thought that’s what I wanted but actually they become more involved in the “idea of me” then just me.’

Scarlett admitted that being on TV sometimes affects the way people perceive her, but she nevertheless adores her job.

She explained: ‘There are a few misconceptions about working on TV, one is it’s actually really hard.

‘Sometime it’s nonstop for weeks but a lot of people don’t see that, the behind-the-scenes or the pilot shows. But it never feels like work and I still get so excited with everything!

‘That’s not to say there aren’t downfalls because you get catapulted into people’s living rooms and everybody gets to know you, but they know you depending on what’s being portrayed.

‘However, the positives outweigh the negative so I definitely wouldn’t moan.

‘I think people always assume I’m an outgoing loud character but I’m not really, even before lockdown I could name on one hand how many times I’ve been on a night out. But generally I do think people know me, what you see is what you get.

‘I think when I was first began in this TV world, I tried to filter everything. I really held back and I wouldn’t post a photo if I didn’t have my make-up on or I would constantly rerecord videos to post. As I’ve gotten older I just don’t care.’

Now Scarlett tries to use her platform to promote important causes surrounding mental health and self-care.

She recently described her Lletz treatment to remove abnormal cells in her cervix as she reflected on the positive impact it had by sharing her personal experience.

The presenter said:  ‘I try to speak openly, for example encouraging people to get smear tests, I was inundated with messages from fans who then booked their tests, and even my nurse called to say, “wow, we’ve had loads of women coming through”.

‘It try and use it [social media] for good rather than just always sharing videos of me putting my make-up on or cleaning the house!

‘I do quite a lot of work with the Samiritans because I think they’re heroes. I’ve also been working with Go Ahead on their “Snaccidents” campaign.’

She said: ‘With January being the “new year, new me” month, people can get really bogged down with what they’re eating and I think people need to go easy on themselves.

‘We’ve had such a tough year, so if you have a “snaccident” then chill out because 2020 was rock hard!’
