Police probe footage of man being hauled away by Covid crackdown cops after refusing to give his name when he was stopped ‘on his way to work’

Police in the West Midlands have launched a probe after a video was released yesterday showing a man being hauled away by Covid cops for refusing to give his name.
Footage shared on social media shows two police officers in Solihull, West Midlands sitting in a stationary police car as they stop an unidentified man.
The man was intercepted by officers understood to be enforcing covid regulations in Solihull yesterday.
The male officer, named by a source as a PC Joseph Naylor, asks the man where he is going and he replies saying that he is on his way to work.
The officer then asks: ‘Do you live around here?’
The man, who filmed the encounter on his mobile, shares the street he lives on but refuses to reveal his name.
PC Naylor, who along with his colleague is not wearing his face mask inside their squad car, replies: ‘We are here to enforce legislation mate so I need to know who you are.’
The confrontation then escalates with the man continuing to give his name and asking the officer if he wants to put his body camera on.
Seemingly irritated, PC Naylor gets out of his car and approaches the man, having put a mask on.
He tells him to provide some details or he’s ‘going to be arrested’.
The man accuses the officer of harassing him because he’s wearing a hoodie and asks him why he was pulled over while gesturing to the street around them.
He adds: ‘Why would I allow someone to just pull me over?’
The officer replies: ‘We’re the police, not just someone you idiot.’

They continue arguing, with the man appearing shocked by the confrontation.

He adds: ‘We’ll sort this out at the station then.’
The footage – filmed by the man – was put onto social media this morning and West Midlands Police say the matter has now been referred to their professional standards department.
It is unclear if the man was arrested or charged with any offence.
Solihull Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ian Parnell said: ‘We are reviewing body worn video of an incident in Solihull yesterday involving two of our officers, after footage was released on social media.
‘We have subsequently received a complaint and this will be investigated by our Professional Standards Department.
‘We expect the highest standards of professionalism from our officers and will take action if those standards are found to fall below that level.
‘We will be keeping the complainant fully updated.’
