Nine’s Travel Guides returns to TV with only 584,000 metro viewers

The premiere of Nine’s Travel Guides attracted less than 600,000 metro viewers on Tuesday night.

The third season of the TV series – delayed in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic – brought in a figure of 584,000 when it aired at 7.30pm.

Melbourne was home to the highest number of viewers, topping the chart with a figure of 182,000, according to OzTAM.

This was followed by Sydney with 174,000 viewers, Brisbane with 109,000, Adelaide with 60,000 and Perth with 59,000.

Of the total amount of metro viewers, 240,000 were aged between 25 and 54 years.

Travel Guide’s premiere attracted less than the 658,000 tuning into Network 10’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! at the same time slot.

The key demographic for the first part of the episode included 275,000 metro viewers aged between 18 and 49 years, while the elimination round attracted 274,000, Ad News reported.

The show attracted 339,000 metro viewers in the 25 to 54 demographic, while the elimination segment pulled in 324,000 metro viewers.  

Nine News, Seven News and A Current Affair attracted more viewers than Travel Guides, with each show pulling in 933,000, 896,000 and 665,000 viewers respectively.

The last time Travel Guides ran in 2019, it attracted 752,000 metro viewers and 964,000 nationally when it premiered, according to Mumbrella.

Nine ran a showing of The Castle after Travel Guides at 8.30pm, which pulled in 390,000 viewers across the five capital cities, the publication added.

The network will roll out a Married At First Sight special, which will air across two nights, starting this Sunday.
