Maskless Mel Gibson flouts COVID-19 safety rules by not wearing face covering and ignoring social distancing at the playground with four-year-old son

Oh, Mel no!

Mel Gibson, 65, was spotted completely ignoring California‘s coronavirus safety protocols by stepping out without a mask on Wednesday in Malibu.

The actor was at the playground with his youngest children and appeared to also flout social distancing rules while yucking it up with other maskless parents.

Rules don’t apply: Mel Gibson, 65, was spotted completely ignoring California’s coronavirus safety protocols by stepping out without a mask on Wednesday in Malibu

The Braveheart actor didn’t seem to have a care in the world as he spent some time at the playground with his kids.

During an unseasonably chilly week in Southern California, Mel layered up in sweatpants, a flannel shirt and a navy blue jacket with a baseball cap.

His salt and pepper beard and pearly whites were on full display since the actor/director wasn’t wearing a mandated facemask to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The Australian actor has nine children in total from three relationships: Hannah Gibson, 41, Christian Gibson & Edward Gibson, 38, William Gibson, 36, Louis Gibson, 33, Milo Gibson, 31, Thomas Gibson, 22, Lucia Gibson, 11, and Lars Gibson, four.

The park where the group gathered in Malibu is not far from the site of the actor’s now infamous 2006 anti-semetic tirade when he was arrested for driving under the influence following a night of drinking at Moonshadows.

On Monday, California lifted its second stay-at-home order and returned to a color-coded tier system of reopening the state.

Despite the lifting of the lockdown, the state is still implementing social distancing and the wearing of facemasks.

Maybe Mel didn’t get the memo because not only was he maskless, he seemed to take no care to keep his distance from other parents – many of whom were also not wearing masks.

It is surprising that the Hacksaw Ridge director isn’t taking the pandemic more seriously considering he was hospitalized in 2020 with COVID-19.

Gibson contracted the virus last April, spent a week in the hospital and was treated with an anti-viral medication.

Despite misconceptions, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that it is possible to become reinfected with COVID-19.

Additionally, new, more transmissible variants currently spreading are raising the question of whether rare reinfections will rise.
