Erin Molan reveals she once lived in her 1997 Holden Barina early on in her career as a journalist and the surprising reason why

These days she is a successful TV and radio host.

But Erin Molan has revealed she once lived in her car early on in her career as a journalist.

On Wednesday, the 38-year-old Channel Nine star recalled how she slept in her 1997 model Holden Barina in her twenties.

‘It was a Holden Barina 1997,’ she divulged to co-stars Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee on her 2Day FM radio show, The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed & Erin.

‘I would’ve been in my early 20s. I was working at a TV station for $250 a fortnight.’

She went on to explain her living arrangement was a result of being ‘naughty’ and not wanting to go home to her father, Jim Molan, who is a politician and former major general in the Australian Army.

‘I was naughty so we had a stage where I didn’t particularly want to go home,’ Erin said.

‘It was like the von Trapps. I couldn’t handle the environment anymore… It wasn’t really by the way. I grew up with an amazing family.’

It comes after Erin brazenly revealed to actor Eric Bana that she once ‘stalked’ him for ‘three days straight’ to get an interview as a Nine reporter.

The Hollywood icon laughed as he confirmed he could remember the 2014 incident during her radio show last Thursday.

As he attempted to discuss his new movie, The Dry, Erin chimed in: ‘Hey Eric, I’ve met you before. I stalked you – it was actually probably highly illegal!’

She continued: ‘… but I got the interview for Channel Nine, and I was so chuffed and my bosses were so happy!’

Eric responded: ‘You know why I remember? Someone said to me ‘there’s a girl who wants to do an interview – and I don’t think she’s going to go without it.”

The interview had taken place in 2014, when Eric competed in one of the toughest car races in Australia – the Bathurst 12 Hour – in Mount Panorama, NSW.
