Ana de Armas talks about ex-boyfriend Ben Affleck for first time

Ana de Armas split from Ben Affleck late last year.

But the 32-year-old Knives Out star talked about the Oscar-winner during her interview with The Sunday Times Style which was conducted just before the romance ended.

During her chat the brunette beauty touched on the 48-year-old Batman star’s sartorial choices.

While discussing his penchant to wear a number of t-shirts with Spanish phrases on them, she noted she also owns a few from the popular Cuban brand, Clandestina. 

‘Ben has become obsessed with them,’ she gushed about his affinity for the slogan shirts. ‘Every time we go, he buys the whole store.’  

When the publication attempted to circle back with the Cuban-born beauty about her changed relationship status, her rep simply told the magazine: ‘We do not have any information to share.’

Ana and Ben got close when filming the movie Deep Water in late 2019 and early 2020 in New Orleans. 

In the spring of 2020, Ben was by her side as she came and went from her Venice Beach, California home.

It appeared as if the two were getting very serious as they went house hunting together and she was seen playing with two of the three kids he has with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Some publications predicted he would propose while others claiming he was ‘in love’ and Ana was ‘the one.’

So it came as a shock to fans when it was announced they are no longer dating.

Since then, Ben has been spotted looking gaunt outside his Los Angeles home as he picks up his Dunkin Donuts delivery. 

Ben has a long and varied romance history as he was wed to Garner, but also dated Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.

Despite Ana and Ben’s romantic relationship ending, the former flames ‘still talk regularly,’ People‘s source reported. ‘Ben and Ana’s friendship has not ended,’ the insider revealed.

The site also said it was Ana who called time on the union.

Ana didn’t want to live full time in Los Angeles – which is Ben’s homebase because of of his kids and ex-wife Garner, it was also shared.  

Since their split, the father-of-three has been spending time with his children ‘a lot’ and ‘continues to work on himself,’ the source said.

Also in her interview, the Golden Globe nominee reflected on becoming a household name after starring in 2019’s Knives Out and Blade Runner 2049 nearly four years ago.

She said networking with the ‘right people’ has ‘kind of been’ her life.  

During the chat, she also revealed it took a lot of hard work to perfect Marilyn Monroe’s signature breathy voice for her role in the upcoming film Blonde. 

‘It only took me nine months of dialect coaching, and practicing, and some ADR sessions,’ she said. ‘It was a big torture, so exhausting. My brain was fried.’

She also pointed out that women in Hollywood face still endure many of the same challenges as their predecessors ‘from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s.’ 

‘If you don’t have a strong base, with your family and so on, it’s really hard to make it through — really hard,’ she stressed. 

And she talked about leaving Cuba as a teen with just about $355 in her pocket.

‘In Cuba, you live in a bubble. I didn’t know what the world was like. I had never travelled before in my life,’ she reflected. 

She added: ‘I guess – and I mean it in the best possible way – being ignorant about some things may help you, because you don’t have any fear. I just went and did it.’

‘If I had to do it now, knowing what it’s like and what I had to go through, I’d be scared. But I’m glad I did it. I didn’t think about it twice,’ the star remarked.
