A Quiet Place Part II is being delayed for a THIRD time as movie studios continue to grapple with extended fallout from the ongoing pandemic

Almost the exact same thing happened last year, for the same reason.

And now the upcoming horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II has been delayed yet again, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The film, directed by John Krasinski and starring his wife Emily Blunt, was originally slated to open in March 2020, right around the time the first pandemic lockdowns began in the US.

It was then delayed to September of last year, in hopes that audiences would be able to venture back out to crowded movie theaters to see it.

That, of course, never happened, and the sci-fi thriller was bumped to this April.

But with new, even more contagious variants of the novel coronavirus circulating, coupled with a slowed down vaccine rollout, AQP2’s distributing studio Paramount Pictures has decided to bump the film yet again, this time to September 17th, 2021.

However, there is absolutely no guarantee that come September, moviegoing audiences will be readily comfortable enough to once again pack theaters enough for the film to have the desired financial impact.

As it was announced late last year, rival studio Warner Bros. has made the unorthodox but timely decision to release its entire 2021 slate on demand on HBO Max along with theatrical openings where possible.

And while the move has been derided by several purist, high-profile filmmakers, Paramount would do good to take heed and devise a similar plan for the Quiet Place sequel.

2018‘s blockbuster hit A Quiet Place was lauded for its superior technical aspects, but because the movie was so quiet, many filmgoers reflected that the film was not exactly suited for theatrical viewing where fellow patrons much popcorn and the like.

As the sequel – following a family stalked by sound-sensitive predatory alien creatures – will certainly follow suit with a tense and sparse soundtrack, it would be perfect for at-home viewing during the pandemic lockdown.

That, plus the fact that audiences have been anticipating this new installment for well over two years at this point.

Perhaps star and director John Krasinski will comment on the latest delay when he hosts Saturday Night Live at the end of this month.

They should release AQP2 on demand: As the sequel will certainly feature a quiet, tense and sparse soundtrack, it would be perfect for at-home viewing during the pandemic lockdown
