Reese Witherspoon attempted to help a gorgeous cardinal who was unable to fly from her driveway on Thursday.

The actress, 44, posted video of the vibrant red bird sitting upon the pavement as she asked her Instagram followers for suggestions on how to assist him.

‘You okay?’ Reese tenderly asked the bird as he sat still on the floor.

‘He can’t fly,’ Reese later wrote in the video, along with a teary-eyed emoji.

Determined to help the bird get back into the sky, Reese placed a box on the floor for him and even gave the cardinal a small bowl of bird seed.

Interestingly, the bird did hop inside the box, though Reese made it clear it was without any of her help.

‘I put down a box and he hopped in,’ she wrote, adding, ‘I did NOT touch him.’

Despite her best efforts, the bird was not interested in trying out the bird seed.

Fans offered Reese a flurry of suggestions for how to help, with many recommending she take the bird to a vet or wild life center.

However, it was the suggestion that the bird may have been a message from beyond that really caught Reese’s attention.

‘Also… cardinals are symbols/visitors to you from people you know who have passed on,’ one wrote to her.

Reese circled the message and wrote in bold pink font, ‘And this.’

For now, the fate of the bird remains unknown.

The actress has otherwise been spending quality family time with her 17-year-old son Deacon.
