‘I am in the best shape I have been in for a while’: Faye Brookes praises Dancing On Ice training for keeping her trim and says she feels ‘really good’ about her figure

Faye Brookes praised Dancing On Ice for keeping her trim and admits she hasn’t been in such good shape for a while.

The former Coronation Street actress, 33, said she is feeling ‘really good’ about her figure after ‘falling in love’ with ice-skating despite slipping over every day in training.

Soap star Faye has felt her body is ‘in harmony’ as she finds competing in Dancing On Ice both physically and mentally challenging, but she adores every moment.

‘I am using muscles I have never used before’: Faye Brookes praised Dancing On Ice for keeping her trim and admits she hasn’t been in such good shape for a while

She told MailOnline: ‘I am using muscles I have never used before.

‘I love to train, I love to keep fit and dance, I love to do different classes, shake it up, do a home workout, I’m up for anything. But this, they say it is hard but it is more than that – it is so challenging.

‘The good side to it all is that I am keeping in shape and the best shape I have been in for a while.

‘Mentally I am being challenge, physically I am being challenged and that makes you feel like you really need to enjoy – your body is in harmony, there’s a balance somewhere.

‘How great that I can challenge my body and my mind and feel really good about myself?’

The TV star, who’s paired with Hamish Gamen, admits it hasn’t been an easy ride so far and she arrives at each training session equipped with medical supplies, knowing she’s going to need them.

She said: ‘I fall everyday in training, I fall every day. Usually I go into the barrier and I can’t stop.

‘I am definitely buying a tube of arnica cream every week. I have so many bruises from little falls. I am making sure I am taking care of my body when we do have downtime so the next day I am prepared.

‘I have the Compeed for all those blisters, I have kneepads on, I have extra thermal layers just in case it’s a bit cold so I have just been really overly prepared for anything.’

Faye has been given advice on her performance from former competitor and Corrie co-star Jane Danson, 42, who appeared on the series in 2019.

Jane even visited Faye during rehearsals to give her expertise, as she’s carried on with skating since learning the skill for the ITV show.

She said: ‘I haven’t had one person that doesn’t want to wish me well, especially the Corrie girls.

‘There are quite a few of them that have taken part in the show and they all know how hard it is. They have sent so many encouraging messages.

‘Jane Danson gave me the best advice because like myself she completely fell in love with ice skating and she’s kept it up ever since she left the show.

‘She saw me at the rink and said “keep doing it and enjoy every second of your time there because you just don’t know when it’s your last skate.”‘
