Dakota Johnson reveals she has double-digit tattoos while promoting drama Our Friend on talk show

Dakota Johnson revealed she has double-digit tattoos and received her first belly piercing at age 14 – with the approval of her mother Melanie Griffith – on Wednesday during a talk show visit.

The 31-year-old actress made the personal revelations while promoting her new movie Our Friend on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Corden, 42, complimented Johnson on her gorgeous long red dress with golden floral print and puffy light green cuffs as she appeared in-person on the CBS talk show filmed in Los Angeles.

‘Thanks, I got really excited to leave my house,’ Johnson said. ‘So I just brought out the big guns’.

Corden during their socially distant interview amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic admitted he was surprised to hear that Johnson was a ‘big fan of tattoos’.

‘And I don’t know why I’m surprised,’ he added.

‘I don’t know why you are surprised either,’ Johnson quipped.

‘I don’t think I have ever seen you, you know…,’ Corden stammered.

‘My whole body,’ Johnson said laughing.

Corden then told the Fifty Shades franchise star that she didn’t strike him as a ‘tattoo fiend’.

‘I’m not a tattoo fiend,’ Johnson playfully protested. ‘I mean, I have like 11, or 12. I don’t know.’

‘I think that’s fiend, you are in the fiend zone. I think 11 is fiend. I think any more than eight is a fiend,’ Corden said.

‘I disagree,’ Johnson said standing her ground. ‘It’s 2021. That is conservative’.

She told Corden that she had a few tattoos on her arms and some ‘other random ones in other random places’.

‘That I regret,’ Johnson added.

‘Because my dad used to say that to me when I was a teenager. And I’d say ”I’m going to do this” and I never did it. And then he also said that if I ever got a tattoo he would disown me,’ she said.

‘How did that work out?,’ Corden asked.

‘Well, I got a tattoo of something that he used to say,’ Johnson said.

‘Very smart,’ Corden remarked.

‘But my mom took me to get my first tattoo. She also took me to get my belly button pierced when I was 14, and she also got her belly button pierced. I don’t know why I am telling you this,’ Johnson laughed.

Our Friend premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2019 and will be released Friday by Gravitas Ventures in theaters and on demand.

Based on a true story, the film follows couple Nicole and Matthew Teague as they confront an uncertain future after Nicole is diagnosed with terminal cancer, with the couple allowing their best friend to move in and help.

The film also stars Oscar-winner Casey Affleck, 45, as Matthew and Jason Segel, 41, as close friend Dane Faucheux.

Johnson said they filmed the movie in the town where the real couple actually lived, but she never felt pressure to emulate her specifically.

‘It was more like I wanted to her heart to be authentic. I wanted her relationship to be authentic. And I wanted the story to feel real. And everybody, we all kind of agreed that that was the right way to go rather than trying to pretend to be someone because you just can’t. Sometimes somebody is so incredible that you can’t capture them perfectly,’ Johnson said.
