Channel Nine dumps major shows ahead of the new ratings year

Boned! Channel Nine dumps major shows from its schedule ahead of the new ratings year

With a new ratings year upon us, Channel Nine has decided to shake up its programming schedule.

The network had dumped three major television shows from its line-up, reports industry website TV Blackbox.

American dramas The InBetween and Chicago Med have been dropped, in addition to reality show Driving Test.

The broadcaster decided to scrap The InBetween from Wednesday nights with just two episodes left to air.

Its ninth episode has been rescheduled for Wednesday 27 at 11pm.

The series tells the story of Seattle medium Cassie Belford, played by Australian actress Harriet Dyer, who works alongside the police to help solve crimes.

Meanwhile, Chicago Med has also been scrapped with three episodes left to air.

The medical drama follows the lives of the doctors and nurses who work in the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

Driving Test was set to air its final episode of the season on January 11, but was reportedly pulled just hours beforehand.

The show followed Aussies trying to obtain their driver’s licence.

Of course, it’s not unusual for major networks to rearrange programs ahead of the new ratings year.

Nine is refocusing on its major shows, including Lego Masters and Married At First Sight, which returns for its eighth season in February.
