Blue for Biden! Sunrise switches to the Democratic colours for inauguration day as Donald Trump departs the White House for the last time

Channel Seven breakfast show Sunrise changed its colour scheme on Thursday to blue – the colour of the Democratic Party – for its special coverage of Joe Biden being sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.

While reporting on inauguration day, the banner colours transformed from the usual bright orange to a patriotic shade of blue, as Donald Trump departed the White House for the final time.

Sunrise had also changed its colour scheme for the U.S. election in November.

His co-host Sam Armytage – who is known for her more conservative politics – did not wear blue or white, but instead chose to wear a red leopard print shirt for the occasion.

In 2017, Sam attended Australian NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham’s new TV show launch, where 400 attended for the conservative Free Speech Forum.

He said this story could ‘sound a lot like’ the song ‘American Anthem’ before he recited his favorite verse from the tune.

‘We’ll write the next great chapter in the history of the United States of America, the American story,’ Biden said.
