The new season of The Amazing Race is set to premiere on Channel 10 on February 1.

And on Monday, the network revealed that host Beau Ryan was forced to quarantine for two weeks before filming the show last year.

The official Instagram account for the series shared a video of the former NRL star, 35, admitting that isolation was ‘hard’.

‘Just like our teams, @therealbeauryan went into quarantine before the race kicked off… it’s safe to say it might have sent him bananas,’ the post was captioned.

In the clip, Beau lies shirtless on a hotel bed as he discusses the challenges of isolation.

‘I’m gonna be straight up: quarantine’s pretty hard,’ he begins.

‘Isolation, quarantine, whatever you want to call it, being stuck in a room for two weeks by yourself, most people lose the plot… I don’t,’ he adds. 

The former rugby league player then says he has to take a call, before ‘picking up’ a banana and putting it to his ear. 

The fifth season of The Amazing Race, which completed filming in November, will see the contestants race around Australia after the Covid-19 pandemic prevented international travel.

Fourteen couples will travel across the country in pursuit of the $250,000 cash prize.

Channel 10 aired its first teaser trailer last month, revealing a glimpse of the rugged terrain, ocean vistas and stunning rainforests the contestants will experience.

In the clip, a contestant says: ‘What I’m looking forward to most is that the whole world is within Australia… so many hidden treasures and we haven’t explored it yet!’
