Rafferty Law says growing up with lots of interest around his famous parents Jude Law and Sadie Frost didn’t stop him wanting to follow them into acting

Rafferty Law has said that growing up with famous parents and dealing with all the public interest surrounding them didn’t put him off also going into acting.

The star, 24, who is also known as Raff, said he was simply focused on school in his younger years and was ‘waiting for the right moment’ to showcase his talents.

He even revealed that his parents Jude Law and Sadie Frost, who divorced in 2003 and also share children Iris and Rudy, encouraged his ‘love of performing’ by helping him make short films in an interview with the Radio Times.

Raff said: ‘I’ve never really been someone who lets things weigh me down. My mind was on school and making friends, and just growing up like everyone else.

‘I think from a very young age I’ve loved performing. In half-term I’d be making short films with my best mate and my parents would help out with those.’

Raff then turned his thoughts to his breakout role, Twist, saying it was the perfect project for him to work on.

He said: ‘I think I was always waiting for the right moment to be able to show people what I can do. And when Twist came about it just all made sense.’

Reflecting on Twist, Raff said he did get a little nervous ahead of filming kicking off and especially when he watched co-star Michael Caine in Batman.

He admitted that he really started to ‘feel the pressure’ but everybody – including co-star Sophie Simnett, 23, who joined him for the interview – was so kind and helpful on set that the nerves soon faded away.

Raff also revealed that he was supposed to be working on two other projects during 2020 but they had to be paused due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although not getting to further show his acting talents, the unexpected time did mean he got to write music for band Outer Stella Overdrive.

The talented star explained that they got to record an album which he had written in lockdown.

Rafferty’s Sky film Twist also stars Lena Headey, Rita Ora and David Walliams.

Putting a modern spin on the classic tale of Oliver Twist, the star-studded production boasts Raff in the title role as well as Michael Caine, 87, as gang mastermind Fagin.

A first look at the film shows Rafferty as a graffiti artist in London before he catches the eye of a leather-clad Rita in her cool portray of Dodger.
