Why people HATE influencers : Instagram users reveal their ‘pet hates’

Why people HATE Instagram models: Social media users reveal their ‘pet hates’ about influencers – from selling ‘skinny teas’ to Photoshop fails and saying their ‘job is hard’

Instagram users have shared their pet hates about so-called ‘influencers’, from their endless sponsored posts to insisting their job is difficult.

Former Married At First Sight star Michael Brunelli asked his followers on Saturday to list the things they ‘can’t stand’ about influencers.

Hundreds of fans responded with complaints, with many saying they hate the way some Insta models promote ‘skinny teas’ and detox products.

Others said they find it annoying when people include unnecessary swipe-up links or ask for ‘recommendations’ when they are actually fishing for freebies.

A common gripe is when influencers post on Instagram Stories asking fans to ‘like’ uploads on their main feed, or when they tell followers to turn on notifications.

Another pet hate is when influencers pretend fans have been asking them about their outfits, which they then use as an excuse to promote brands.

Michael’s followers complained about high-profile Instagram personalities sharing too much sponsored content and rarely interacting with fans – and especially dislike it when they moan about their job being ‘hard’.

They also singled out former reality stars who still post about their TV appearances from years earlier, as well as models who use Photoshop and filters to make themselves look thinner.

The harshest criticism was reserved for influencers who share health advice without the relevant qualifications, promote ‘toxic’ diets, advertise multi-level marketing companies and ‘spout conspiracy bulls**t’.

Many said they hate it when reality stars comment emojis on each other’s posts – and Michael confirmed they do this to ‘create more interaction’.

He explained: ‘That’s what happens when they’re in the same Instagram “pods”. For those that don’t know, it’s a group of influencers/losers that all agree to like and comment on each other’s photos to create more interaction.

‘You can spot it a mile away. When all photos have almost the exact same number of comments or they are mostly emojis.’

Michael, who is still dating his Married At First Sight bride Martha Kalifatidis, often calls out influencers who promote sham diet products.

The former schoolteacher and certified personal trainer is the founder of the Tru Fit By Michael workout program.

Michael and Martha will feature in the Married At First Sight all-stars reunion, which airs on Channel Nine later this month.
