Mark Wahlberg admits he ‘wasn’t sure about 14 day quarantine’ when he arrived in Australia

Mark Wahlberg spent 14 days quarantining at a private property in Byron Bay last month after arriving in Australia from the U.S.

And the 49-year-old actor revealed on Monday that he’d initially been skeptical about the country’s strict rules on self-isolation for international travellers.

‘At first I was like, “Oh my God, you have to quarantine for 14 whole days?” But then I got it,’ he told The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Mark said he respected the rules because they keep Australia safe and open.

‘That’s why people don’t really have to wear masks, restaurants are open, gyms are open… I went and visited an F45,’ he revealed.

‘You guys really handled it well. I really take my hat off to Australia and how they handled the pandemic.’

The Hollywood star also revealed he ‘was able to complete a secret project’ during his visit and said it ‘will be coming out soon’.

Mark and his entourage were spotted arriving in Sydney via private jet last month.

Footage showed the Patriots Day star emerging from the plane flanked by security guards holding umbrellas.

After arriving in the country, he flew directly to Byron Bay before making his way to a $2,500-per-night property to quarantine.

He was granted permission by authorities to skip the usual hotel quarantine and allowed to self-isolate at the private estate instead.

The countryside retreat features 24/7 security, including two NSW police officers, to ensure the hunk was safe at all times and followed quarantine protocol. 

The actor is believed to have travelled to Australia to film an advert for online betting agency Ladbrokes.
