Gogglebox’s Amy Tapper reveals her 3st weight loss was inspired from feeling ’embarrassed’ when she had to ask for an extension for her seat belt
Gogglebox star Amy Tapper has recalled an incident on a plane which left her feeling so embarrassed about her weight, it inspired her to lose three stone.
The 21-year-old television staple was bound for a family holiday to Disney when she had to move seats due to her size.
Amy told the Daily Star: ‘I’ve been dealing with issues around my weight since I was eight. Over the years I tried different diets and quick fixes.

‘The hardest times were when I was made to feel embarrassed. Whenever I was on a plane I’d have to ask for an extension for my belt.’
She said she was so self-conscious about the request, she’d book aisle seats so she wouldn’t need to ask for the belt in front of a stranger.
Amy added: ‘When I went to Disney with my family, me and my dad had to sit in a different row on a ride because we needed bigger seats. When things like that happen it’s horrible. It makes you feel like you’re not normal.’

Amy was also subjected to horrific online trolling about her weight after her family debuted on the TV commentary show in 2013.
Earlier this month, the star revealed that she managed to drop 3.5 stone after ditching ‘quick fix’ diets and instead changing her ‘entire lifestyle’.
The television personality also candidly detailed how she’s struggled with her weight since she was just eight years old in an interview with Metro.
Amy said: ‘There was nothing specific [issues] because I’ve struggled with my weight since I was about eight years old. I’ve always tried every diet under the sun.’

She continued: ‘I think it was just the right time… my mind was exactly where it needed to be. Changing a whole lifestyle rather than doing a really quick fix on shakes and bars that just didn’t [work].’
Reflecting on the incredible response to her weight loss reveal, Amy said she didn’t want her fans to think she was finished, saying ‘I’ve still got a long way to go!’.
She added that her followers’ excitement over how her journey is going has kept her motivated to stick with it and share regular updates.
Although social media has been a great help in her weight loss journey, the star said she no longer uses Twitter after reading horrible messages about herself.
Amy explained how she used to search her name and see the trolls’ hurtful words when she was a teenager, but has now stopped doing this.
