A-Team van licensed for the show goes on sale at auction

‘I love it when a van comes together!’ Official A-Team van that comes with a 50-caliber machine gun and is one of only six exact replicas goes up for auction

  • Chevrolet van was licensed by Universal Studios and was used to promote show
  • It is an exact replica with iconic black and metallic grey bodywork and a spoiler
  • The van was displayed across the US and features prop guns mounted inside

A-Team fans will now be able to bid on an official van from the show complete with a replica 50-caliber machine gun in the back when it goes on sale at auction.

The 1979 Chevrolet 2500 was one of just six vans to be officially licensed by Universal Studios and is identical to the one used in the programme.

It was used to promote the cult 1980s show and was displayed at shows across North America and is up for auction with no reserve price in Indiana

The van features the iconic black and metallic grey bodywork made famous in the programme as well as a flamboyant rear spoiler and powerful roof mounted lights.

Despite actually being made using a Chevrolet 2500, the van has been covered in GMC logos to match the vehicle famously used in the show.

Under the bonnet is an American V8 engine meaning it has power worthy of Mr T.

The van comes with replica guns mounted to the walls and four seats - one for each of John 'Hannibal' Smith, Templeton 'Faceman' Peck, B. A. Baracus, HM 'Howling Mad' Murdock

The motor is on the market with Worldwide Auctioneers of Indiana, US, and is being sold without reserve.

Specialists at the auction house are refusing to put an exact estimate on the vehicle but are expecting a huge of interest.

A spokesman said: ‘Pop culture always presents highly valued objects.

‘Often, these objects are replicated but rarely can one acquire an authentic, officially licensed piece of history.

‘Icons from the ’80s are just now coming in to their own and the enjoyment and investment potential of this A-Team Van are obvious.’

The van has spent much of its life being used only occasionally having formed part of a well-known collection.

Its current owner has displayed it only occasionally at shows and conventions and is now selling it to raise money for charity.

John Kruse, principal and auctioneer said: ‘This is a highly entertaining promotional and exhibition vehicle that would be welcome at shows and events everywhere.

‘It is instantly recognisable as one of TV’s most iconic vehicles and we are excited to be selling it without reserve to benefit such an inspiring national cause.’

The sale takes place on January 23.
