They’ve been close friends since high school and have known each other since they were just kids.

And Matt Damon showed their friendship hadn’t abated amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as he dropped by his old pal Ben Affleck‘s home in Los Angeles‘ Brentwood neighborhood.

The 50-year-old Ocean’s Eleven star was dressed casually for an afternoon of hanging out with an all-black look.

Damon opted for comfort with a simple black T-shirt and matching jeans.

Despite his seemingly low-key vibe, the actor added a pair of gray suede Golden Goose Ball Star trainers, which usually retail for $495.

He completed his salt-of-the-earth look with a gray and blue baseball cap with a red patch on the front.

The Oscar winner also had on a pale blue surgical mask to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Ben and Matt have maintained their friendship throughout the pandemic, and the Martian star has been seen visiting his buddy’s home multiple times in recent months.

Back in May, he was seen exiting Ben’s home with a copy of the film history The Big Goodbye: Chinatown And The Last Years Of Hollywood by Sam Wasson.

In August, it was announced that Ben would be taking on the story behind the neo-noir classic Chinatown as his next directing project, though it’s not clear if Matt introduced him to the acclaimed book or if Ben was sharing his next project with his friend.

Their friendship goes back to childhood, but the two made a name for themselves as professional collaborators with their 1997 film Good Will Hunting.

The duo wrote the screenplay for the Gus Van Sant–directed drama, which earned both of them the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, while Matt’s costar Robin Williams also took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

Matt originally wrote the first version of the screenplay, which was abandoned except for a single scene, while he was still at Harvard University.

After graduating, he brought the screenplay to Ben and the two worked on it together to shape the final product, though the screenplay went through many different versions, including one draft in which it became a bizarre thriller about a man with superhuman intelligence.

Despite their close friendship and the critical and commercial success of their screenplay, the A-listers never wrote another screenplay together until reuniting for their upcoming film The Last Duel, which is directed by Ridley Scott.

The film is based on the book of the same name, about the last legally sanctioned trial by combat in France, and filmmaker Nicole Holofcener also contributed to the screenplay.

Matt was originally going to play a knight who accuses his squire (to be played by Ben) of raping his wife.

However, Ben stepped down from the role in order to play a less time-consuming supporting role, while Adam Driver took over as the squire.

Their on-screen reunion is expected to be released on October 15, after being moved back from Christmas 2020 due to the pandemic.
