Speaking to Michelle Visage in Grazia magazine, Alan said: ‘I’ve actually heard some tracks on it. Oh my god, it’s so amazing. So amazing. The thing is, can I just say this, I remember they change all the time because they’re really rough things.

“Everyone’s like, “What’s it like? What’s it like?” But I said to her, I said, “That voice is like an old friend.”‘

Adele has released three albums so far, 19 in 2008, 21 in 2011, and 25 in 2015, all to resounding critical and commercial success.

Alan said he would occasionally think other popular artists would sound like Adele, until he was reminded of her talents on her upcoming record.

He said: ‘Because there are some people in the charts who sound a bit like Adele and you think, “Oh they sound like Adele” and then when you hear Adele’s voice again you go, “Oh no, there’s only one.” There’s only one Adele.’

Referencing Adele’s seven stone weight loss, Michelle jokingly asked Alan if her voice has got ‘skinny’.

But Alan reassured his RuPaul’s Drag Race co-star that she sounds as great as ever, describing her voice as ‘chunky but funky’.

Adele and Alan have been good friends for years, with the singer even paying for his wedding to husband Paul Drayton in 2018, while she also officiated the ceremony.

It was previously reported that Adele laid down some initial tracks for her upcoming new album, in a top secret recording session in London.

The news comes from drummer Matt Chamberlain – of band Pearl Jam – who told the Eddie Trunk podcast on SiriusXM: ‘I just got to work on some new music for Adele.

‘To hear that voice in my headphones was getting me chills. It was just so powerful and emotive. You know her voice, but to be across the room from somebody doing that, it’s just insane.

You hear it on the radio and whatever and you go, “Yeah, it’s really good”, but to be in the room with these people and feel that energy, it’s just so heavy.’

MailOnline contacted representatives for Adele for comment at the time.

It was reported in November that Adele returned to London from the US ahead of the second lockdown to work on her fourth album, which fans speculate will be titled 30, 31 or 32.

She has been residing in Los Angeles since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and was reportedly seen meeting a friend at the Chiltern Firehouse in the capital.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Adele chose to move back to London so she could focus on completing her fourth album.

A source told the publication: ‘Adele wants to lay low while she’s here, which is easy with shades and a face mask.

‘People don’t recognise her like they used to anyway. She’s not been able to release new music yet and she’s totally focused on that and getting each track just right.’

‘She still has a network of people she works with and links up with when she is over here.’

Also in November, Adele, who wowed fans with her seven-stone weight loss, hosted Saturday Night Live in the US, and teased that she would reappear next year with new projects.

‘I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year,’ she said on the show.

During the hosting stint Adele also admitted she still hadn’t finished her fourth album, telling the audience: ‘My album isn’t finished and I’m too scared to do both. I’d rather just put on some wigs and this is all mine by the way. Have a glass of wine or six and see what happens.’

In August, Adele also admitted she had ‘no idea’ when her next album would be released, after responding to a comment posted by a fan on Instagram.

As the fan asked: ‘Adele where’s the album?’ she replied: ‘I honestly have no idea!’
