Who is the guy from the Subway advert? Meet the Kiwi actor in new campaign

New Zealand-born actor Julian Dennison has starred in a hilarious new advertisement for American fast-food franchise Subway.

The 18-year-old raps to a remixed version of the famous theme song to 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Hunt for the Wilderpeople star dons a green and yellow jacket and jeans, as he sings: ‘This is a story about how fast food got flipped turned upside down.’

‘I’d like to take a minute and just sit right here and tell you how to ditch the fries and eat fresh everywhere,’ he continues.

Julian then stands in a skate park while holding a Subway sandwich in one hand.

‘On burgs and fries we were born and raised… until a couple of guys who were up to some good started selling fresh in my neighbourhood,’ he adds.

The actor is best known for his roles in Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Deadpool 2.

Julian plays a character called Russell (a.k.a. Firefist) in superhero movie Deadpool 2 alongside Ryan Reynolds in the titular role.

In 2018, the youngster revealed what it was like working with Ryan during an interview on Channel Nine’s Today Extra.

He said he was nervous meeting him at first, then realised he was a really cool, ‘down-to-earth guy’.

‘Sometimes it was like, “Am I even in the right place?”‘ Julian said of feeling star-struck among his famous colleagues.

The film is the sequel to the hugely successful Deadpool, which remains the highest grossing R-rated film ever.
