Lleyton Hewitt shares a rare photo with his lookalike son Cruz… who has followed in his footsteps by winning a tennis trophy

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Hewitt clan.

Doting dad Lleyton Hewitt has shared a rare photo of his 12-year-old son, Cruz, and it’s almost baffling how much he resembles the Australian Tennis champion.

‘Solid week by the little fella!’ the 39-year-old captioned a beaming post of the two alongside one another on Monday.

In the snap, Cruz is smiling from cheek-to-cheek after taking home a trophy for his efforts on the court.  

Both wearing their long blonde locks, topped with similar black caps, the father and son duo almost look identical in the post-match picture.

Lleyton’s photo quickly accumulated more than 7000 likes by fans, boasting comments from the likes of former sportsman Mark Philippoussis, who left a strong-arm emoji on the post.

Meanwhile, other fans left words of support for the talented young man, with some even predicting greatness for the ‘Next Gen!’ 

In December 2019,  Cruz showed off more than just his similar looks with his dad, when he recreated recreated his father’s signature fist pump while competing in the Australian Open 2020 Play-off in Melbourne

The high-profile tennis coach and his wife Bec Hewitt, 37, celebrated their second born’s birthday in December.

‘Happy 12th Birthday my gorgeous boy! I love you so much!’ the former Home and Away actress captioned a snap of the budding tennis champ with his pet pup.   

Lleyton has previously spoken about his high hopes for Cruz’s tennis career, believing he’ll be playing in the Australian Open by the time he’s 14.   

He’s also said he hopes his son goes even further than he did during his stellar tennis career, which spanned 18 years.

‘Hopefully he gets a chance to play in this great event [the Australian Open] if he wants to. Hopefully he beats me,’ Lleyton said during the Australian Open in January, as reported by Woman’s Day.  

The Hewitt’s married in 2005 and along with Cruz, the two share daughters, Mia, 14, and Ava, 10.
