Emmerdale star Ben Freeman, 40, to join EastEnders as mysterious newcomer Caleb

He is best-known for playing Scott Windsor in Emmerdale and Chris Longworth in Grange Hill.

And now actor Ben Freeman has joined EastEnders where he is set to play mysterious newcomer Caleb.

The soap star‘s, 40, character will be an associate and blast from the past of Chelsea Fox, played by Zaraah Abrahams.

Chelsea has been pretending to forgive her murderous father Lucas, played by Don Gilet, and wants to seek revenge on him.

Only recently, it was revealed that Chelsea had actually planned the brutal attack on her father.    

Caleb will be appearing in a slew of episodes as Chelsea’s storyline with her father Lucas intensifies.

Ben is no stranger to soaps and he is best-known for playing Scott Windsor in Emmerdale from 1998 to 2007.

During his time in the Yorkshire village, his character had a scandalous affair with his stepsister Kelly Windsor, played by Adele Silva.

While Scott also fathered a child, Jean, with Zoe Tate, played by late actress Leah Bracknell, following a one night stand. As part of the storyline, Jean’s paternity was kept a mystery for months.  

Aside from Emmerdale, Ben played Chris Longworth in Grange Hill from 1996 until 1998.

More recently, Ben has appeared in several musical and theatre productions, which included The Rocky Horror Picture Show alongside Diana Vickers. 

He also starred in an episode of Doctors and 2018 film Robin Hood: The Rebellion.    

Only recently, Zaraah made her debut on EastEnders and she joked that she asked the soap to push back her Christmas Day opening episode.

The former Waterloo Road star said: ‘I was honoured but also extremely frightened. I said I think we should do it the next day as I didn’t want to let anybody down. 

‘Everyone looks forward to “EastEnders” on Christmas Day, it’s a lot of pressure! EastEnders’ has such loyal fans so I want them to be happy on Christmas Day.’

EastEnders continues on BBC One.
