Martine McCutcheon became the latest celebrity to be unmasked on Saturday’s episode of The Masked Singer 2021.

And the former EastEnders star, 44, uploaded her son Rafferty’s priceless reaction that evening as she was revealed to be the Swan character.

In the clip uploaded to social media, she was seen holding her five-year-old child while they watched the ITV programme and Martine chanted at her onscreen character: ‘Take it off!’

When she was finally unmasked, a shocked Rafferty said: ‘What? Mummy, mummy, mummy! Oh my god.’ 

‘Can you believe it?’ she smiled and responded as her son affectionately wrapped his arms around her. 

Rafferty added: ‘Mummy what the… how did you?’ 

She captioned the sweet Instagram upload: ‘Thank you so much for having me! The most amazing project to be part of! Huge! Thank you to the whole team – what an brilliant bunch people to work with!

‘Ive never known an operation like it! I didn’t get to sing a big ballad but I DID get to be a showgirl again and also surprise Rafferty by being on one of his favourite ever shows!

Martine found herself in a sing-off with Sausage, whose identity is yet to be revealed, and despite impressing with her rendition of Black Velvet by Alannah Myles, the actress was voted off by the judging panel. 

Fellow judges Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Rita Ora were wrong with their answers after they guessed Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts and Idina Menzel as the Swan – respectively.

It was ultimately judge Jonathan Ross who correctly guessed her identity before the unmasking. 

So far, the 2021 series has had a bad success rate for singers with Martine becoming the third professional performer to be booted off following Mel B and Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s exits in previous weeks.   

Talking about her time on the show, Martine said: ‘I just thought it would be so lovely just to come out and have fun!’ 

To which Davina replied: ‘You look fantastic,’ with Martine adding: ‘That’s lovely, thank you!’

As one of her clues before being unmasked during the show, Swan teased that she had served a Prime Minister and had deals with more than one president of the USA.

After her unveiling, Martine revealed that her statement was in fact a nod at her role as Natalie in Love Actually, where she acts as a secretary to Prime Minister David, played by Hugh Grant, where she also meets with US president (Billy Bob Thornton).

Although the actress revealed that she once had a real run-in with a US president as she sat next to Donald Trump at Liza Minnelli’s wedding in 2002.

She said of her meeting with Trump, 74: ‘Liza Minnelli’s wedding, I was a guest, I got to be her bridesmaid and next to me was Trump. So make of that as you will!’

And after Martine’s unveiling, Jonathan quipped: ‘I was right for once!’

The comedian also worked out that Swan’s ‘royal connection’ was in fact the name of the pub in EastEnders in a nod at her character Tiffany Mitchell.

To which Martine joked: ‘Milan! We were signed to Polydor when we were 14-years-old. So I felt like a washed up has been by the time I was 18.’

Talking after the show aired, the star said: ‘After lockdown I missed performing live and I thought it would be fun to perform in disguise. It’s liberating to take on a whole new persona.’

While she admitted it was difficult keeping her cameo secret, she confessed: ‘It was SO hard! We watched the first series and my little one was hooked – we had to watch it every single week.’ 

It comes after last week’s show saw Spice Girl Mel B revealed to be the Seahorse character.

After being unveiled, she admitted: ‘I thought I disguised myself pretty well with my voice and accent and trying not to be like me. I’m very shocked that you guessed me.’

While Sophie Ellis-Bextor was unmasked as the Alien on the premiere episode on Boxing Day. 

Murder On The Dancefloor singer Sophie admitted she was lucky she didn’t take a tumble in her costume.

After the show, she said: ‘I was on a platform and couldn’t see too well. I thought I might fall off.’

On having an advantage as a singer, she continued: ‘I felt like a gymnast who had a cool routine with jumps and twists, who then left after their first comedy somersault. But it’s cool.’

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7PM on ITV.
