Goldie Hawn introduces Instagram to her and beau Kurt Russell’s new puppy Roy

Goldie Hawn is a noted lover of animals and proponent for children’s rights, not to mention an Oscar-winning actress.

And the Cactus Flower star, 75, used Instagram on Friday to introduced her 2.8 million Instagram followers to the newest member of her blended family.

Sharing a selfie, Goldie could be seen holding a positively adorable yellow Labrador puppy, which she named ‘Roy Hawn Russell.’ 

The actress was seen in dark athletic wear including a tank top as she held the pooch in her lap with her arms wrapped around it.

Goldie had her iconic blonde hair and bangs down, and she made a kissy face with her lips. 

The septuagenarian beauty wore a single gold bangle around one wrist and modeled a red manicure. 

In the caption, Hawn excitedly wrote, ‘Look what Santa rescued for me! Introducing Roy Hawn Russell.’

To complete the caption, Goldie added a heart emoji as well as the hashtag #goodboyroy. 

Many followers were quick to note that the choice of the name Roy may very well have been a nod to one of Goldie’s most famous films, namely 1987‘s comedy hit Overboard.

In the movie, Goldie’s character Joanna guesses that one of her apparent sons is named Roy, when she is quizzed by Dean, the character played by her real-life, long-term partner Kurt Russell.

Overboard is one of the several films that Kurt and Goldie have collaborated on, the most recent of which was a sequel to the Netflix holiday film the Christmas Chronicles. 

Their very first cinematic team-up was way back in 1984, on the movie Swing Shift.

The pair have been together for 37 years, defying the odds when it comes to famous Hollywood couples. 

Hawn is clearly a dog lover, as two weeks ago she took to her Instagram once more in a special video to comment on world kindness day while holding a beautiful collie pup in her arms.
