Liam Payne expresses regret over One Direction using Harvey Weinstein character in their music video

Liam Payne has revealed his regret over One Direction featuring a Harvey Weinstein character in their 2013 Best Song Ever music video. 

The video featured the Strip That Down hitmaker, 27, and bandmates Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and former member Zayn Malik dressed as various characters, with Niall hamming it up as a studio exec called Harvey.

And speaking seven years later and in the wake of the Me Too movement, Liam told how the video featuring the disgraced movie producer, 68, still plays on his mind, as he remarked: ‘I often think about that.’

In a recent Instagram live Q&A, both Liam and the video’s director Ben Winston, told of their remorse at the Harvey character being in the video – which has been viewed over 700 million times on YouTube.

Ben said: ‘We couldn’t make that video these days. We based a character on Harvey Weinstein. Listen, he was just a famous guy…’

While Liam remarked on his guilt, stating: ‘I know, I often think about that. Jesus Christ.’

Credits in the video sees Niall, 27, cast as ‘Harvey, the Studio Exec’, with the other members cast in different roles including Liam as ‘Leeroy the choreographer’ and Zayn as ‘the sexy assistant.’

Niall is dressed up in a suit with false greying hair and a beard, and is seen yelling ‘I love the Direction’ in the video, before shouting at someone: ‘Hey, wise guy! Get outta my office!’ 

Liam’s words comes after he sent sends his adoring fans wild as he debuted his new lockdown look complete with lengthy locks and bushy beard on Instagram on Thursday.

The singer was plugging his upcoming show in the post yet his hair left fans distracted as a vast number of followers claimed he looked like Jesus in the image, while others gushed over how much they ‘loved’ the look. 

Liam chatted about his upcoming LP gig, a live stream on Saturday, however his concert was not what fans were focused on in the selfie video. 

He soared to fame in One Direction in 2010, alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, during which he boasted long floppy locks.
