Schoolboy, 12, who was ‘killed by 14-year-old on Lincolnshire village green’ suffered stab wounds to the neck, chest and abdomen, inquest hears

A 12-year-old schoolboy who was ‘killed by a 14-year-old on a village green in Lincolnshire’ had suffered stab wounds to the neck, chest and abdomen, an inquest has heard. 

Haven High Academy pupil Roberts Buncis was found dead in Alcorn Green, Fishtoft, on the morning of December 12, 2020 – two days before his 13th birthday.

Coroner Paul Smith opened an inquest into his death and said the provisional results of a post-mortem examination by forensic pathologist Professor Guy Rutty gave the cause of death as ‘stab wounds to neck, chest and abdomen’.

Detective Inspector Andy McWatt, of Lincolnshire Police, told the hearing at the Myle Cross Centre in Lincoln: ‘Police were called to Alcorn Green at 10.22am on December 12 following reports of a male being found dead in a wooded area behind that green.’

He said paramedics attended the scene, the deceased was initially believed to have been a 30-year-old man, and that the police investigation continues.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with Roberts’ murder and was remanded in custody.

A 13-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation. 

And a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action.

Coroner Mr Smith suspended his coronial inquiry due to the criminal investigation.

He said: ‘The matter will be resumed following the conclusion of ongoing criminal processes.’
