Fantasia Barrino announced she and her husband Kendall Taylor are expecting a baby girl on Tuesday evening, after hosting an intimate outdoor gender-reveal party.
In addition to sharing the exciting news with a darling cardboard cutout of a cartoon version of her future daughter, the singer shared footage of herself watching pink fireworks explode into the sky to her Instagram account.
‘It’s a girl!’ the 36-year-old American Idol winner shouted four times in excitement as Taylor stood by her side and loved ones cheered.

The star, who has more than 4.4 million followers, invited fans to watch her live reveal, which showed her wrapped up in a black blanket and Taylor in a checkered blazer as they stood in their driveway.
Within an hour of posting the update, she received more than 137,000 likes and 5,964 congratulatory comments, after recently revealing it took years to conceive naturally.
‘At first, we thought we were going to have to do different things,’ she said on an episode of The Tamron Hall Show last month, explaining that many people had recommended trying in vitro fertilization. ‘This is a three-year journey we’ve been on.’

In her attempts to get pregnant, she learned her fallopian tubes had closed and ultimately took a break from actively trying to ‘let God be God.’
‘I kid you not, I forgot about it,’ the singer recalled to the host. ‘And then I woke up one night, and I was just like, ‘Something’s different.’
After taking six pregnancy tests to confirm the news, she gushed she was ‘so excited’ and says the experience ‘increased’ her and Taylor’s ‘faith even more.’

The couple made their baby announcement via Instagram Live, in which the singer spoke about her struggle to conceive and showed off her growing baby bump.
Barrino shared how she had turned to the Bible and God for help in light of her infertility.
She spoke about the story of Rachel in the Old Testament, who was childless until God granted her prayer, and said she had started ‘to pray like Rachel’ in the hope of having a baby.
‘Keep trying and you will conceive,’ Barrino said as Taylor, who she married in 2015 just three weeks after meeting, sweetly kissed her belly.

Around the same time, she also posted a photo to Instagram in which she’s seen looking at her phone and carrying a red Chanel purse in a lush park.
In the caption, she wrote: ‘God I want to thank you! You gave us a seed even when the doctor said that one of my tubes were closed you said different.’
Both have children from previous relationships – Barrino is mom to sons Dallas, eight, and Zion, 19, while Taylor is dad to a son Treyshaun.
