Has I’m A Celebrity already lost its mojo? Channel Ten program slips in the ratings on its second night – despite premiering at number one

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! seems to have lost some of its lustre on its second night.

According to a report by media website Mumbrella on Tuesday, the hit reality show dropped to 820,000 metro viewers on Monday night.

This was down from 1.031 million metro viewers during its premiere episode on Sunday night.

Losing viewers: I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! seems to have lost some of its lustre on its second night, after it dropped in the ratings

It proved to be Sunday night’s most watched program, but fell behind both Channel Seven’s and Channel Nine’s news programs on Monday.

But it wasn’t all bad news for the Network 10 series, which still managed to top the key advertising demographics.

This year’s season of I’m A Celebrity… has so far proven to be a big success for 10, with the premiere episode pulling in more viewers than last year.

About 1,000,300 people tuned into this year’s broadcast, compared to 980,000 in 2020, according to a report by TV Tonight on Monday.

The new season was pre-recorded for the first time this year, and production was also relocated from South Africa to northern NSW due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s contestants include The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield, former Australian Idol star Paulini Curuenavuli, and The Voice’s Jack Vidgen.

Other contestants include veteran TV host Grant Denyer, comedian Ash Williams, former Block star Jess Eva, actress Toni Pearen, comedian Mel Buttle and retired AFL player Travis Varcoe.

Meanwhile, Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico was a latecomer to the series, with the retired Australian rules footballer arriving during Monday’s episode.

His appearance on the show came after months of speculation he was due to appear on this year’s show.
