Bachelor alum Bekah Martinez started her last semester of college … six months after welcoming her second child: ‘It’s been a slow, hard eight year journey’

She welcomed her son Franklin in June 2020 with boyfriend Grayston Leonard, 16 months after they had daughter Ruth.

And six months after Franklin’s birth, Bachelor alum Bekah Martinez revealed she started her last semester of college at the University of Irvine.

The 25-year-old mom of two said college has been an eight year journey and now only has two classes left.

Bekah shared four images and a lengthy caption explaining her journey to finishing college – which had several delays due to her stint on the Bachelor, giving birth and also her dealing with depression.

In the first image, beaming Bekah posed in her UCI collegiate sweater with her kids Ruth, who turns two in February, and Franklin six months, on each hip. 

She wrote: ‘Today marks the beginning of my very last semester of undergrad. It’s been a slow, hard eight year journey, and I’m so close to the finish line.’

Bekah said she started at UC Irvine in 2013 right out of high school with plans of becoming an elementary school teach or an art teacher – with her focus on getting her Bachelor of Fine Arts.

‘I dropped out in 2015. I was really depressed and felt so alone. I moved back to my hometown to live with my parents and hit the refresh button.’

Bekah continued, noting that she took community classes over the next few years and then applied to transfer to University of California Los Angeles’ art program, but got rejected.

She said that she went on The Bachelor after that then afterwards got pregnant with boyfriend Grayston, after only dating each other for three months. 

‘Having my first little one on the way gave me a huge boost of motivation. In 2018 I re-enrolled back in UCI,’ Bekah wrote, adding that she finished the semester eight months pregnant with Ruth.

She explained that she took the next semester off to give birth and take of her newborn but went back to school when her daughter was seven months old.

‘Then I got pregnant with Franklin. The pandemic happened; I finished out the spring semester taking classes on zoom at 39 weeks,’ she wrote.

Bekah said: ‘So finally.. here we are. 2021. I have two classes left, I’ve gained two babies along the way, and I’ll be able to say I did it. This spring I’ll have my college degree. I’m so damn proud.’

She said she is still majoring in art. 

Bekah competed on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season (season 22) of the Bachelor.
