Amanda Kloots shared a vulnerable post about trying to remain ‘positive and active’ as she continues to grieve the death of her husband, Nick Cordero, who died in July.
Despite her best efforts to navigate the significant loss by herself, the 38-year-old co-host of CBS’ The Talk opened up about her decision to seek out professional help.
‘New Years has been tough, extremely hard for me. I’ve cried more recently than in awhile. I thought Christmas would be hard, this was worse,’ she revealed on her Instagram Story.

She continued: ‘I think it’s because when the new year comes you want a clean slate or to forget about last year, esp 2020. But, I can’t forget about last year and will not be able to wipe that slate clean.’
Understandably, the single mother, who welcomed her and Cordero’s nearly two-year-old son Elvis in 2019, said she was ‘slightly scared of what can happen in a year.’
After going through going through the motions for the past six months, Kloots explained everything she endured was ‘finally catching up’ to her.

‘I am finally ready to go to therapy to address the trauma,’ she said, after watching the late Broadway star battle COVID-19 related complications for 94 days.
Kloots also noted reminding others they are not alone in their grief and that being open about her ongoing heartbreak has helped her heal.
She added ‘I share all of this as my continued honesty about grief and loss. How it ebbs and flows, changes a lot. How it hides and then finds you. How it’s a journey, not just a week. How it’s continued struggle even as I stay positive and active.’

In an agonizing description, the beauty admitted her pain has left her crying for days, ‘two seconds or two hours’ at times.
‘How it makes you feel so lonely and confused,’ she remarked of grief. ‘Being honest, acknowledging all of this instead of hiding it, has helped me. I hope it helps you.’
Kloots tied the knot with the Tony nominee back in 2017, after first meeting on the set of the musical Bullets Over Broadway in 2014.

Nick was unconscious when he was first hospitalized, and he was initially mis-diagnosed with pneumonia.
The Waitress star later tested positive for the novel coronavirus, on April 1st.
From there Nick’s battle went from one complication to the next, as he was placed on a ventilator and experienced blood clot issues, which eventually led to the amputation of his right leg.
Gone too soon: Over his hard-fought battle, Nick was able to come off the ventilator and wake up from his coma, but the infection left his body and lungs so weak that he was never fully able to bounce back
He also received a temporary pacemaker and entered a medically-induced coma.

Cordero’s death was announced by his wife in a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

‘God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth,’ she wrote.
‘I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light.’
Amanda explained that Nick was ‘was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk’ and that he was ‘an incredible actor and musician.’
‘He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday,’ said Kloots.

She went on to thank the medical team that aided her husband in his tumultuous months-long health battle.
In spite of it all, his wife Amanda remained a beacon of positivity, keeping her Instagram followers informed of his stop-and-start progress every step of the way.
She will be starting her now job on The Talk on Monday, alongside Elaine Welteroth, who are replacing former panelists Marie Osmond and Eve.
