Manchester United’s Paul Scholes allegedly flouted covid rules after his children threw a New Year’s Eve party with around 20 friends.

The party appeared to have been held at Scholes’ mansion in Oldham, Lancashire, with his daughter Alicia, 19, taking to Instagram to share snaps of herself and eight friends.

Scholes’ son Arron, 21, is also believed to have been pictured with five of his friends in a snap shared on social media that appears to have been taken at the £3.5million home in the Tier 4 region.

Neighbours reportedly complained about the New Year’s Eve gathering, The Sun reports.

Scholes, 46, was not featured in any of the snaps and it is not known if he was aware of the party.

All nine women are pictured wearing revealing fancy dress with no particular theme, whilst the men wore a bizarre array of character costumes that included Jimmy Saville, Forrest Gump, a sheik and Super Mario.

In August the Manchester United legend was found to be in breach of the lockdown rules after throwing a huge party for his son’s 21st birthday.

The football coach went full steam ahead for celebrations for his son Arron’s 21st, even though coronavirus lockdown regulations were imposed across the North West on the same day.

The party was said to have started at 7pm and gone on until 2.30am, The Sun reported.

Photographs, posted on his daughter Alicia Scholes’s Instagram at the time, showed attendees disregarding social distancing as they danced and posed for pictures.

One Instagram user commented under Alicia’s posts: ‘How is Arron having a party at your house when Oldham is in lockdown between 2 households?’

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen accused the ex-England midfielder of ‘reckless behaviour’ after the 21st birthday party.

He said: ‘You’d expect a much more responsible attitude from a role model who has worn an England shirt 66 times.

‘The people of Oldham are fully aware reckless behaviour like this has caused the return to lockdown.

‘While young people are less likely to suffer serious complications if they are infected, they may spread it to somebody for whom the consequences could be very severe.’

Some people who live near Scholes, 45, also accused him of ‘ignoring all the rules’, adding that the party was ‘madness’.

Scholes’ son Arron plays for ninth-tier Chadderton FC in the North West Counties League, while his daughter Alicia is a netball player for Manchester Thunder.
