Steve Smith says he’s in the best shape of his life thanks to Chris Hemsworth’s personal trainer Luke Zocchi – who only agreed to train him if he played cricket with the Thor actor

Cricket legend Steve Smith has branded Chris Hemsworth‘s personal trainer Luke Zocchi a ‘beauty’ after he helped him get in the best shape of his life this year.

The 31-year-old trained with the renowned celebrity PT for a gruelling week-long session in Byron Bay in July, after his wife Dani, 28, contacted Luke for tips on how he could train during lockdown.

Following the sweat-inducing sessions, Steve gushed about the PT to The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, saying: ‘I was really fit. I was running loads and lifting weights regularly during COVID. Zocch is a beauty.’

Luke had only agreed to train Steve under one condition – that he play a game of backyard cricket with ‘me and my pals’.

The pals in question turned out to be Chris Hemsworth and Today Show’s Lauren Phillips, who claimed she ‘got Steve out’ during the match in the Thor actor’s $20million mansion’s driveway.

Luke had shared pictures of the training sessions on his Instagram page, where he explained some of the gruelling activities they got up to.

‘What a week it has been training with the man they call Smudgey @steve_smith49,’ he began.

‘From heavy barbell sessions, horrific cardio circuits, ice baths, sleds, winning the meat tray at the pub and a epic backyard cricket match.

‘I can honestly say the biggest surprise was seeing him play a cricket shot in between sets of bench press!’

He added: ‘This bloke earned my respect on how hard he trained and is a true savage when it comes to putting in work! Good times mate safe travels!’
