Channel Ten producer hints Survivor will be filmed in Australia

Channel Ten producer hints Survivor will be filmed in Australia – following the success of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and The Amazing Race

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia and The Amazing race were filmed locally this year.

And it seems, Australian Survivor may also be filmed Down Under in 2021 due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions.

Channel 10’s executive producer Stephen Tate has said the network is ‘working on getting the show made locally’ following the success of I’m A Celebrity and Amazing Race filming in Australian locations.

‘What 2020 has taught us is if you see a window to getting a TV show made you have to take it,’ he told The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday.

‘We’ve managed to get I’m A Celebrity made, we’ve managed to get Amazing Race made in Australia. We’re currently working on getting Survivor made locally.’

Mr Tate went on to say: ‘While we’ve struggled, the Australian production community is really benefiting from the amount of production that is happening at home.’

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia was forced to film locally this year due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions.

The forthcoming season shifted production from South Africa to Northern New South Wales.

The Australian production took over the set used previously by the UK version of the reality TV show.

The Amazing Race was also localised this year after international travel was off the cards due to the global pandemic.

As reported by TV Tonight on November 21, network boss Beverley McGarvey said: ‘The Amazing Race Australia finished filming on the weekend.’

‘The footage that I have seen so far is extraordinary. It really showcases our beautiful country and the teams competing this year are competitive, creative and very diverse.’

Australian Survivor’s last three seasons have been filmed in Fiji, but it could soon find a new home somewhere locally.
