  • Actress Ronni Ancona, 54, was stumped by a motoring question for £8,000
  • Former Top Gear host did not know the longest motorway in Great Britain

If you’re one motoring question away from winning £8,000, who better to ask than former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson? Anybody, as it turns out.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host Clarkson, 60, was left red-faced as he fluffed the question during a charity edition of the ITV show.

Actress Ronni Ancona, 54, was stumped by the question: ‘At just over 230 miles, which is the longest motorway in Great Britain?’

So she used the extra ‘ask the host’ lifeline that all contestants now get as part of the quiz format and put Clarkson on the spot.

He admitted he was unsure of the answer, guessed the M1 – and put his head in his hands when the answer was revealed as the M6.

Miss Ancona was left with only £1,000. The M1 is actually 193.5 miles long.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan also won only £1,000 after not being able to name Lewis Hamilton’s Formula One teammate (Valtteri Bottas).

An embarrassed Morgan pledged £15,000 of his own money to his charity.
